Foam Sclerotherapy for Varicose Veins
Varicose veins can cause discomfort and cosmetic concerns. Foam sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive treatment that involves injecting a foamed sclerosant solution into an affected vein. The foam increases contact between the solution and the vein wall.
The procedure may be performed in an outpatient setting without general anesthesia. The choice of treatment depends on the veins involved, your medical history and a specialist assessment.

Foam sclerotherapy may be used to treat different types of varicose veins and may be combined with other treatments when appropriate. It is not suitable for every patient. Allergies, existing medical conditions and individual risk factors must be reviewed before treatment.
Possible side effects and complications include discomfort, swelling, skin discoloration and blood clots. Your specialist will discuss the expected benefits, risks, alternatives and follow-up care with you.
A consultation with a vascular specialist is needed to determine the most appropriate treatment for your individual needs.
